A Focused Study of Shariah Objectives in the Light of the Qur'an

Abstract

Islam provides humanity with a long-term and comprehensive development model that may be classified systematically as the means to accomplishing the Maqasid (objectives) of Shari'ah as well as the ideal end of reaching those Maqasid (Islamic law). Due to Islam being a rule-based religion, its prescription for development goes well beyond market regulations and includes rules necessary to maintain a dignified life; in order that the faithful can maximise their intellectual capacity, preserve and promote their health and education, and have equal opportunity for employment and partnership in the economic and social development of society, and unhindered by practices such as fraudulent practices, cheating practices, corruption practices, or property abuse practices, among other things. Islam's prescriptions and the existing state of affairs in Muslim countries, however, are diametrically opposed to one another in practice. This study examines the Shairah objectives in the light of the Holy Qur'an.
