Abstract

The study of two renowned Tafasir (commentaries)  of the Holy Qur’an namely: Jawahir-al-Qura’n and Zia-al-Qura'n reveals that these interpretations stand parallel to each other as  far as certain religious beliefs are concerned.  A critical and research based study is required to end the differences once for all.  It is crystal clear that there is a difference of opinion regarding certain religious beliefs between the authors of Tafsir Zia al-Qur’an and Tafsir Jawahur al-Qur’an. Both the authors belong to Sunni School of Thoughts   and interestingly both sects, the DeobandÊ and the Brelvi follow Hanafi Fiqh.  But in spite of all that there is a difference of opinion regarding certain religious beliefs between them. This thesis deals with the difference of opinion on the question whether the Holy Propht (PBUH) had knowledge of the unseen (Ilm-al-Ghaiyb) or not?
