The Leadership code in light of the Holy Quran

Abstract

The word Qiyadat is an Arabic term which means to lead or guide someone. In the Holy Quran, there are several synonyms of this word such as AlKhilafa, Amarah, almulk, malakut and Imama etc. The Holy Quran has given a complete idea and has presented basic criteria to establish a government. It has explained the qualities of a good and a bad leader. Which discussing the people of past, many examples have been mentioned of the rulers with good or bad interaction. Following the rulings of the Holy Quran and the due guide line of the Holy Prophet(s.a.w)The Muslim Ummah at their beginning established an all-inclusive example of leadership which the is the golden period of Muslim History. The Caliphate Period lasted till 40 Hijri in which the boundaries of Islamic State expanded to the three continents of the world. It was indeed the result of qualitative leadership and the justice of the Islamic rulings which did conquered the hearts of the Non-believers. What the principles of leadership does the Holy Quran give to its followers? ?What should be the qualities of leaders and what they should avoid These questions have been answered in this article in a scholastic manner. The methodology adopted therein is descriptive and qualitative. The qualities of a good and bad leader are collected from specific places of the Holy Quran. The basic sources are Quran and the books of Tafseer. The current situations have been also brought under discussion wherever necessary.
