Fundamental Principle of Naqshbandīah Ṣūfī order and its Spiritual and Psychological Impacts :An Analysis from Islamic Perspective

Abstract

This paper intends to know about the fundamental principles for spiritual training adopted by the Naqshbandīah Ṣūfī order. It is one of the major Ṣūfī order like Qādrīah,  Suhrwardīah and Chishtīah may be called as pillars of Islamic Sufism. Is the system and principles of this Ṣūfī order are in accordance with the teaching of Qur’ān and Sunnah. Employing analytical method this study wants to grasp, what is the ultimate objective of Naqshbandīah principles for spiritual training. This study finds that the principles and manners adopted in this Naqshbandīah order aims to rectify esoteric imbalance from human life. It may change the life of humanity providing them guidance towards internal (of heart) and external (body) which causes to impact social life positively. The institution and khānqā‘ī system of Naqshbandīah is a source of better impact upon human soul, psychology and social living style. These principles incorporate universal values and Ṣūfī Da’wah role has nothing to do with the question of race, colour and religion. This Ṣūfīs order focused to reunite the broken relation of humankind with God and its whole philosophy and thought never conflict with the universal teaching of Qur’ān and Sunnah.
